Hey, Rogue Yogi! Did you stumble upon this website because you’re a yoga teacher or a student? Have you been involved in a “complicated” relationship with asanas? Feeling these random aches and pains that stretching only seems to temporarily alleviate? Or have you begun questioning why you’ve had to follow specific cues when they didn’t feel right in your body?
That leads to another curious question: have there been signs that your practice was suspect, but you didn’t want to admit it? (That includes ignoring your body’s pain signals, rationalizing the recurring pain as part of the yogic method and giving your power to your teacher(s) when they can’t know your body more than you do).
I experienced all the aforementioned. In fact, I was at-risk for a hip replacement at the age of 35 (with an entire list of injuries I’m still rehabbing from). How embarrassing and disconcerting that could’ve been, but these lessons ended up shifting my entire approach to the practice towards one that empowers me.
Whether you’ve acquired yoga-related injuries or not, you might be here to empower yourself by understanding your body better, too. You might be in the search of education to empower yourself and your students to make better-informed decisions with every pose and every moment off of the mat.
If this sounds like you, then I’d like to wave a hello! I’m here to help you refine this mind-body awareness and become intimately connected to your self through the various components of Somatics, Yoga and Science-Based Education.
I founded Rogue Yogi® in 2012 with experiences over the past decade learning from various experts in the Yoga, Chiropractic, Physical Therapist, Somatic and Massage Therapist fields.
Practicing a wide spectrum of movement modalities around the world, teaching at several studios in LA and SF, and leading international retreats with over 150 Yoga and DJ “pop-up” sessions along the California coast lead to that little voice inside:
”It doesn’t do anyone justice to provide heart-centered guidance while blindly following the ‘old-fashioned’ way anymore. I can’t lead these hundreds of students on their mats without questioning it anymore. People’s precious bodies are being harmed by the belief that stretching will fix their pain, their problems and their technology-induced disembodiment “.
In this Rogue Yogi life, you can find applicable resources for practicing yoga at home.
You’ll find in-depth guidance on human anatomy, a wide range of ways to approach yoga poses, sequences and breathing techniques explained in plain English.
